About Me
Hello! My name is Maverick and I am a photographer from the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area. When I was a kid I never considered myself to be an artistic person; My aptitude was in the sciences. But, my grandfather was a photographer and a family Christmas present to him in 2019 inspired me to pick up a camera for the first time. My grandfather, Calvin Nophlin, had a special love for Washington D.C so my family borrowed a camera and took pictures of all the places in the city that were special to him. I chose the Washington Monument and I stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, pointed the camera across the reflecting pool, and snapped a beautiful photo of the Washington Monument at sunset. I was twelve years old.

I continued taking photos as a way to bond with my grandfather by borrowing cameras until I saved enough money to buy my own Canon EOS Rebel in May of 2022. Unfortunately my kind and loving grandfather passed away that November and I couldn't pick up my camera again for months after. Ever since then I've devoted myself to fine tuning my technical and editing skills to become the best photographer I can be.
Photography has given me so many things in my short life. Taking photos gives me peace and allows me to connect with the world in a way that is beneficial to my wellbeing. As soon as I look into the viewfinder I enter a state of focus that is rare for me to find in day to day life. I also feel connected to my grandfather and I can often hear his voice telling me how to adjust or narrating my actions. I never thought I'd be here when I first picked up a camera five years ago but I know my grandfather would be proud.
When I am not taking photos I enjoy spending time with my pet guinea pigs and any other animals that come my way. I also like to hang out with friends, read, and explore Adobe Photoshop.
